Ingredients

Cookie Dough

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 3/4 teaspoon milk *(noted alongside sugar & shortening — likely salt; see notes)*
  • Nutmeg (amount not specified)
  • 3 eggs (added 1 at a time, before combining wet and dry)
  • 2½ cups flour, sifted together with:
  • 2½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup milk
  • Vanilla (amount not specified)

Filling

  • 1 box raisins
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 3 heaping tablespoons flour
  • 1 teaspoon vinegar
  • 1 cup water

Steps

Cookie Dough

  1. Cream together the sugar, shortening, 3/4 tsp milk [possibly salt], and nutmeg.
  2. Before combining wet and dry ingredients, beat in 3 eggs, one at a time, into the creamed mixture.
  3. Sift together the flour, baking powder, and baking soda.
  4. Combine 1 cup milk and vanilla; add wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
  5. Roll dough out to no more than 3/16" thick and cut into rounds. Work in extra flour as you cut them if the dough is sticky.

Filling

  1. Make the filling: Combine raisins, sugar, flour, vinegar, and water in a saucepan. Boil together, stirring, until thick enough to spread. Cool completely.
  1. Spread about 1 tablespoon of filling on one cookie round and top with a second round to make a filled sandwich cookie.
  2. Baking temperature and time are not specified on the card.
