French Onion Soup

Ingredients
- 2 large yellow onions
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 4 cups boiling water
- 2 beef bouillon cubes
- 1 teaspoon salt
- Dash of pepper
- 4 teaspoons red sherry cooking wine
- 4 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
- Buttered & toasted crisp French bread crumbs (bread cubes)
Steps
- Slice onions very thin into rings. Fry and braise in butter.
- Dissolve bouillon cubes in the boiling water.
- Add salt and pepper to the onions; pour in the bouillon broth. Cover and simmer over low heat for 30 minutes.
- Add the wine and stir. Bring to a boil.
- Pour into 4 small bowls.
- Sprinkle each serving with Parmesan cheese and toasted buttered French bread cubes.
