Ingredients

2¼ cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
¾ teaspoon salt
½ cup margarine (oleo), softened
½ cup shortening
1 cup brown sugar, packed
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 (12 oz.) package chocolate chips
1 cup nuts

Steps

Preheat oven to 350°.
Combine flour, baking soda, and salt; set aside.
Cream together the softened margarine, shortening, and packed brown sugar until well blended.
Beat in the eggs and vanilla.
Stir in the flour mixture until combined.
Stir in the chocolate chips and nuts.
Drop dough by spoonfuls onto baking sheets, placing drops 2 inches apart.
Bake at 350° for 10–12 minutes.
